Gearing up for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 9th, and we are busy at Calico getting ready for it! Our featured arrangement this year can be seen below. It is an interesting design of various flowers with a small wind chime hanging down in the center with a card saying, "You are the wind beneath my wings." We would be happy to design one especially for your mom, or if you have something else in mind, just let us know.
Don't forget Mom and all the other special mother's in your life this week! Just remember, if Momma ain't happy, nobody is happy!

Prom is Finally Here

Prom has finally arrived in Soddy Daisy, which means we have been very busy at Calico this week getting everything ready! We spent a lot of time during the week doing all of our prep work for the corsages and boutonnieres. We wanted all of the orders to be as fresh as possible, so last night we met at 7 pm to get some serious work done.

But, of course, Calico is not all work and no play! We watched Steel Magnolias, the Big Bang Theory, and Jay Leno, and also had a milkshake run to Dub's down the road.
Finally, we wrapped everything up at midnight. You can see us with our exhausted faces below.
We hope everyone has a fantastic time at prom!!

Prom - Yes We Have Your Color!

Prom time is here, and we are just the place for all your flower and tux needs!
And, yes, we have your color!
Whether you are looking for something simple and classic or trendy and extravagant, we can make it for you. We make corsages and boutonnieres with fresh or silk flowers, depending what you want. Make it your own and make it original! You can pick the band (for wrist corsages), the accents, the flowers, and the color. And, if you want to make sure the flowers match your dress, bring your dress in when you order, and we will match it with our large color pallet!
Below are some pictures of a few of our fresh roses, bands, and silk corsages and boutonnieres. There are no fresh examples of the corsages and boutonnieres below because they will, of course, be made fresh just before your prom and just the way you order them! But scroll down and have a look at some of the possibilities!

And while you are in ordering your corsages and boutonnieres, go ahead and take a look at our tuxedo rentals. We have a wide variety of colors, styles, and sizes available.

We also have flower tatoos. They are silk flowers, sprayed to your exact color request, with a skin safe adhesive to attach to your shoulder, arm, etc. They give that extra pop to get you looking your best and ready to dance the night away!

Keeping Cost Down & Providing Longer Lasting Flowers

Our flowers are typically purchased by the case and come to us dry packed. This means that they are not in water when they arrive. We purchase them this way for a couple of reasons.
1) This keeps the cost down for us and for you. Flowers are cheaper by the case, and therefore, cheaper for us and you, our customer.
2) We are assured that the flowers will be cut properly before going into our cooler. All of our flowers are cut at an angle under water. Underwater cutting keeps air out of the flower stems which produces longer lasting flowers, allowing you to enjoy your arrangement longer!
We also cut the cooler in this fashion weekly to ensure our flowers stay at the highest quality. Once you receive your arrangement, make sure to cut each stem at an angle under water weekly to keep it looking beautiful for as long as possible!

Next time you drive by, take a look at our sign. We change it often, and you never know what it may say! Sometimes, we even offer free roses, but you won't know when unless you read the sign as you go by (or see it on the blog, I suppose)!

Arrangements and Gifts

We provide long and short stem roses, of all colors. Our basic roses are filled in with monte casino, small white flowers that resemble tiny daisies, and lined with carnations around the top of the vase. Of course, we can always add more if you would like some added flare!

Or maybe you just want to send a mixed bouquet with wild flowers and roses. We have that too!

Sometimes you just need something small and simple, maybe for a child's birthday or just to say "I am thinking of you." Or maybe you are looking for that special add on to finish off your arrangement. We have balloons of all kinds, even ones that sing, and all sorts of stuffed animals for a perfect finishing touch.
